We decided we wanted to have lots of traditions now that we’re like a family. And since our ornament collection is pretty sparse, we made “an ornament a year” a tradition we want to take on. And what’s better than a handmade ornament?
What you need:
What you need to do:First, preheat your oven to 275 degrees. Work the clay until it’s soft and malleable and flatten to about 1/4 inch in thickness. If your clay is extra firm like mine was, use a rolling pin. This will also give your clay and even surface. Press a glass firmly to cut a round shape out of the clay. Cut the bottom 1/3rd of the circle. You can also just cut the circle in half if that’s more the shape you’re going for. I cut all different sizes for variation. Use your straw to cut a hole at the top of the shape. Try your best at cutting the bottom portion of the rainbow. This doesn’t have to be perfect, actually none of mine turned out that great but I like the jagged look. Bake your shape in the oven at 275 degrees for 15 minutes.Select 4-5 of your fav colors and start painting! I, for some reason, thought a foam brush would be best to paint this, but a flat paintbrush did a much better job. When your paint is done drying, tie a 4 inch piece of twine through the hole and hang it on your tree. This could be a fun christmas kid craft, right?
