This is my first post! First posts are awkward so I’m gonna segue into the good stuff.
When Ricky and I got engaged in July of last year, I had no idea what the future held other than a wedding (duh). But I mean in terms of wedding planning. I had no idea. Seriously no idea. I never thought about what our wedding day would be like or the amount of time it takes to get it all squared. We’ve come a long long way since July. I’ve spent an unhealthy amount of time on Pinterest and Green Wedding Shoes, countless hours emailing vendors in Monterey, and way too much time second guessing the decisions we did make.
We definitely learned something through all this though. We discussed that we really wanted to look like ourselves on the big day. Ricky initially bought a suit from Jcrew that was really nice, but kept second guessing it because he literally never wears a suit. So back to the store it went. He ended up buying some more casual pieces that were totally his style (and he looks great!). But it’s really easy to get wrapped up in the trends. Another thing we’ve learned, and it’s absolutely not a secret, that wedding stuff is expensive. Like house down payment expensive. So we decided we were going to have a teensy little ceremony in the forest that’s as minimal as possible so we can actually afford a house down payment really soon. I’ve had to make some sacrifices along the way, like foregoing the huge wedding reception and instead having an intimate dinner at a really great restaurant.
One of the things I decided I’m going to do myself is my makeup. And I’m a novice at best doing my own makeup, so I know this process is going to be a challenge. On Saturday I set up an appointment at Nordstrom and my sister came along for experiences and to take notes because I knew it would go by so fast. I ended up learning a ton of new things about applying makeup and even the pre steps like hydrating and moisturizing. I’m hoping to do a post on a routine for this soon! Anyways, I destroyed my budget but left with a good grasp on things and am hoping practicing pays off in October.
And I, of course, had to make a new pouch to put all of my new makeup in. Find the Ivory pouch in the shop!
